for when a roofing claim requires legal assistance or interpretation
We offer these independent vetted resources based upon us getting your roofing business – it’s a free value add for qualified customers.
These are independent resources that we refer, based on careful sourcing experience and relationships. In general, these public independent resources can be challenging to find and be a good business fit, because claims can be an unpredictable landscape. It’s best to try and get it right the first time.
Claims are a dynamic experience for asset owners, residential or commercial, with a legal bureaucratic playing field that’s constantly changing. As your contractor, we understand our legal boundaries and can help our clients connect with independent qualified resources when there are “Claim issues.”
Minnesota does offer some fair consumer protection services at the Minnesota Department of Commerce for when insurance claims get delayed or when bad business practices are evident. Our job as a roofing contractor is to document the damages that do not meet manufacturing performance specifications and provide an estimated scope of those needed repairs. We also offer financing to help with out of pocket expenses when claims get delayed and the work needs to be done before additional damage occurs.
Be prepared and make good decisions.
Consumers, beware: the storm damage industry is often overwhelmed after a hailstorm, with roofing companies knocking doors and making cold calls, leaving homeowners uncertain about who they should—and shouldn’t—trust. If we’re not the right fit for your roofing needs, we recommend validating your options by visiting the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DOLI) website. The DOLI offers a free contractor license lookup service, allowing you to verify whether a company’s license is active, suspended, or revoked, or if they may be operating under an incorrect license. The DOLI also publishes a public list of enforcement actions against contractors with violations, showing that the state is actively working to protect consumers.
Minnesota roofing contractors are required to maintain minimum insurance coverage and bonding to protect consumers from unforeseen issues. This includes scenarios like a downpayment not leading to service, an accident that prevents the contractor from completing the work, or a company going out of business—a situation that unfortunately happens frequently in the roofing industry. General Liability insurance also provides added protection, especially if there’s a risk of subrogation or multiple General Liability umbrellas involving general contractors (GCs).
